my contribution
For this project, I designed and developed two interactive installations. The first, an interactive timeline, allows visitors to explore the spread of grotesques around the world over a span of two centuries. The installation was developed using vvvv, a visual programming language, and integrates two synchronized projections. It receives input from a physical device: a mechanical slider along a one-meter rail, whose linear movement is detected by a sensor connected to an Arduino. The physical interaction allows users to select the years they want to explore further. The second installation, 'Cadavre Exquis', is inspired by the surrealist game of the 'exquisite corpse' to narrate the legacy of grotesques up to the early twentieth-century avant-garde. The interface is a circular rear-projection surface made interactive through a LiDAR sensor that sends XY coordinates to vvvv via UDP protocol. Through touch, users can compose their own grotesque by selecting decorative elements from the Domus Aurea, distributed across four rotating circles.
